ABOUT ABOUT

An iconic building in Philadelphia, the Cira Centre is known for its impressive light array used to commemorate World Series wins, cancer awareness, and general holiday cheer. Last year’s Philly Tech Week Pong game on the side of the 29-story building broke records, and this year's Tetris® showcase promises to be equally exciting. Before you hit the 440 ft version, come and learn to program a game controller to play the mesmerizing Tetris display on a 4 ft replica at NextFab’s Tetris Pregame: Arduino Controller Workshop.
Participants will learn to build and program their own game controller, which they can use to play Tetris on the Cira Centre replica. Participants will learn to solder as they assemble their own controller made from laser cut and 3D printed parts. Using an Arduino, each individual will program the controller to talk to the replica over a USB cable. Once the class is complete, the controller can be taken home and used with any PC to replace the keyboard for basic games.

The workshop will be followed by an open demo for the public, and tours of NextFab's facility, starting at 4:00pm. Invite your friends and show off your creations. Drinks and light refreshments will be provided.

Prerequisites:
Participants should bring their own laptop (PC or Mac) with the Arduino software already installed. Basic computer proficiency is recommended but no programming or soldering experience is required. The price includes all controller hardware and materials. Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent.
